Access control by face and license plate

Access control with existing cameras: faces for people, plates for vehicles; on the list, the barrier opens itself; off it, an instant alert.

The real-world problem

The company gate sees pedestrians, motorcycles and contractor trucks: guards juggle logbooks and barriers, peak hours jam, month-end logs have gaps. Access cards get borrowed, unknown vehicles slip in. This application controls people by face and vehicles by plate on the cameras already mounted.

Access control

Match: 51B-123.45 · on permitted list

How it works

01

Register the permitted people and vehicles

Employees register up to 5 face photos; vehicles register by plate, typed in or imported from file. Visitors (VIPs, relatives) are added by security with a name, purpose, one photo (or plate) and an expiry, dropping off automatically when it passes.

02

AI matches every pass

People through the gate are recognized by face, masks included; vehicles through the lane have plates read with image, class, color and timestamp (make and model needs a separate license). Every match or mismatch is recorded.

03

Open the barrier or alert on strangers

On a match, the pass is logged and turnstiles, door locks or barriers open themselves (connected to the existing gate system). On a mismatch, the dashboard and email alert with images; sirens and lights connect on site.

Real-world applications

Offices and buildings

Offices and buildings

Lobby turnstiles open for listed faces (connected to the existing gate system); elevators serve permitted floors only.

Plants and construction sites

Plants and construction sites

Combined with PPE detection: missing helmet or hi-vis at the gate alerts security at once. Contractor vehicles log by plate.

Residential complexes

Residential complexes

Residents and their vehicles pass automatically; visitors register with security in advance. Strangers and unknown vehicles are caught on record.

Supermarkets and malls

Supermarkets and malls

Counts customers and vehicles into the lot in real time with counting analytics, alerting past a threshold.

What you get

Known people and vehicles pass without stopping

Faces and plates are matched against the allow list; barriers open through the existing gate system, strangers alert with photos.

History searchable per person, per vehicle

Each pass stores face or plate, time, camera and photo; reconciliations rely on records, not recollections.

Blacklist stopped at the gate

Blacklisted people or vehicles keep the barrier closed and alert security with photos on arrival.

One platform for people and vehicles

The same analytics serve pedestrian and vehicle gates; data lands in one table per gate, per day.

How deployment works

  1. Step 1

    Survey pedestrian and vehicle gates

Map lanes, walkways, camera positions, lighting and vehicle speed at the gate.

  2. Step 2

    Pick the deployment shape

On-site server or edge by gate count; allow lists and blacklists designed around leases and departments.

  3. Step 3

    Connect cameras and gate equipment

Cameras connect over ONVIF or RTSP; barriers, turnstiles and maglocks integrate to open for authorized entries.

  4. Step 4

    Tune and operate

Tune recognition on real plates and faces per gate; track read rates and refine.

Infrastructure requirements: Gate cameras at 2MP (face recognition from 720p). Existing barriers, turnstiles and maglocks stay, integrated through the current gate system. Server placed in the building or factory.

Frequently asked questions

How are walk-in visitors handled?

Security adds them to the list: name, purpose, one face photo (or vehicle plate) and a validity period. When it expires, the system removes them automatically.

When does the 'stranger' alert fire?

Two common cases: a first-time walk-in visitor with no registration; or an employee moving into an area outside their permission group. Both raise alerts with images for security to check.

What extra hardware is needed beyond cameras?

Depends on the gate: tripod turnstiles, barriers, door locks or automatic doors, elevators with floor control, sirens, lights and speakers. These receive signals through the controllers already installed; we survey and integrate.
